Top tips to keep your children's eyes protected
Your guide to keeping kids' eyes sun safe
Estimates suggest that up to 80 per cent of a person's lifetime exposure to UV is received before the age of 18*. For this reason, it is important to protect your children's eyes from the sun throughout their childhood. Here's our guide to buying children's sunglasses at every age.
Specially designed sunglasses for very young children come with straps. Your child is less likely and able to take them off and will get the protection they need from harmful UV. Styles are often 'wrapped' to this end too, which also follow the curve of the head and the eye to give closer coverage.
Your growing child may now have a sense of style at this age, so it's even easier to encourage them to wear sunglasses with fun styles they'll love, and keep them on. Now is the perfect time to make it a habit, so that wearing sunglasses will become second nature.
Now they'll take more responsibility for wearing their sunglasses and in looking after them. Which is handy as they may want a more 'grown-up' pair. They may be interested in 'oversized' styles too, like aviators and butterfly shapes. This is great, the larger the lens, the more delicate skin around the eyes will be protected too.
